Pain relief is a basic human right. One does not need to endure pain as it can lead to a range of physical and psychological ill effects. Today’s medical management dictates that when a disease cannot be cured, one should at least attempt to reduce the severity of the symptoms that come along. The specialty of chronic pain management specifically aims to achieve this objective. It significantly improves the quality of life by alleviating pain, which is the most distressing symptom of most illnesses and diseases. It has evolved as a separate specialty with a distinct role in comprehensive patient management.
We offer a comprehensive spectrum of treatment modalities varying from simple OPD procedures to advanced pain therapies including availability of neurosurgical options—all under one roof. We also have a backup support of experts in physiotherapy, neurology, neurosurgery, psychiatry, orthopaedics and oncology.
Patients suffering from pain which cannot be addressed by direct medical and surgical treatment and pain lasting for more than three to six months are the ideal candidates for referral.

Since there are so many different causes of pain, there cannot be a single option for everyone. An individualised treatment plan is developed based on assessment of the patient’s current condition and needs. By and large, a multimodal approach is advocated to give optimum pain relief to our patients.

Dr Preeti Doshi is a senior, internationally trained and qualified Pain Specialist attached to Jaslok hospital and Research Centre since 2001. She is the Consultant and In-charge of specialty Pain Management Clinic which has the facility to address various kinds of cancer and non-cancer pain conditions. She offers multimodal care for patients suffering from chronic pain including percutaneous interventions which forms an integral component of total pain management. She is the first lady in India to qualify with credentialing examination FIPP in 2009 conducted by the prestigious international Pain Society “World Institute of Pain” which is the only recognized fellowship in Pain Medicine at present.
Fifteen years of experience in Pain Management with expertise in performing the entire spectrum of interventions required to address different kinds of non-cancer and cancer pain syndromes. She has till date performed over 5000 interventional procedures from basic nerve blocks to the complex implantable therapies for severe intractable pain. Jaslok hospital is the leading centre in India for offering neuromodulation therapies with satisfactory results.
