"He has several firsts to his credit, from the first deep brain stimulation (DBS) surgery in India, to operating the youngest and oldest Parkinson's disease patients in the world. He was the first neurosurgeon to perform surgery for Depression in Asian-Australian subcontinents. Jaslok hospital has the largest series of DBS procedures in South Asia. The functional neurosurgical unit has recently published the first series (in the world) of DBS in patients of Progressive Supranuclear Palsy (PSP). Today, the functional neurosurgery department, has performed more than 350 DBS procedures and the largest spectrum of functional neurosurgical procedures with excellent results.
He has published >30 research papers in peer reviewed journals and is a reviewer of the esteemed journals. The department offers fellowship program in functional neurosurgery and has trained neurosurgeons from India and abroad. Regular functional neurosurgical updates and workshops are conducted to train and educate neurosurgeon. "
Brief write up
Dr. Doshi has been the Director of the Department of Neurosurgery since 2011. Under his supervision a multi-subspecialty neurosurgical program has evolved at the Jaslok hospital. He has been a pioneer in functional neurosurgery in India. The DNB Neurosurgery program, under him, trains one neurosurgeon every year.
